3D Areola & Nipple Micropigmentation Restoration

PRE & AFTERCARE

PRE-CARE

Pre - Procedure

  • After final breast reconstruction treatment, you must wait at least three months before getting your 3D Areola & Nipple Micropigmentation as the skin will have time to heal.

Day of Procedure

  • Don’t consume alcohol at lease 48 hours (2 days) before the procedure. Alcohol is a blood thinner, making you bleed more. Avoid medication, such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen; these also increase the risk of bleeding because they prevent the blood from clotting. Avoid tea, coffee and energy drinks as they are also blood thinners

  • Put on a comfy, loose-fitting shirt. A loose-fitting bra might be a good idea as well to prevent placing strain on the treatment area. Please arrive on time.

One Hour Before Procedure

  • If you are sensitive to pain, an over the counter pain killer such as Paracetamol can be taken an hour before your procedure (We are not medical practitioners; please consult an independent medical advice from your doctor before taking any sort of pain killers or medicine)

AFTERCARE

  • Shower as usual while wearing your attire as it is watertight. 5 days after procedure, remove dressing.

  • Never scrape off crust or scab that develops in the treated area, the pigment may come off as a result of this.

  • Apply a non-scented white lotion or cream (such as Lubriderm, Eucerin, or CeraVe etc.) to the treated area after the dressing has been removed. Once daily for two weeks, or until there is no longer any scabbing.

  • During the first week following the procedure or while there is scabbing, avoid exercising (such as running, yoga, or cycling).

  • For a week following the procedure or while there is scabbing, avoid lifting anything heavier than 20 pounds (9 kilograms).

  • Wait until the treated area has fully healed before dipping into a pool, bath, or hot tub (usually takes 2 weeks).

What to expect after your session:

The pigment will appear very dark immediately after the procedure as the pigment is still on the top of your skin and has not settled in completely. The pigment will gradually soften and some excess pigment may rub off with lymph fluid (that is naturally exiting the skin, during the healing process). During healing, the skin will start to flake and dry. You may feel the pigment is fading too quickly but this is the natural healing process and after 2 weeks once the skin has had a chance to heal the skin will get its true color.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PULLING/ PEELING OR SCRATING THE FLAKY SKIN

After all sessions/last procedure is complete:

  • Avoid swimming, sauna and steam rooms 28 days after the last session.

  • Keep out of the sun 28 days after the last session; use SPF 30 – 50 quality non-greasy sunscreen thereafter.

  • Moisturize daily with a light moisturizing cream, after the 4th day of the last session (and also in between treatments/ 4 days after each session).

  • Avoid heavy exercise for 5 days after your last session.
